Curious about my setup? Find all my favorite recommendations for tools, software, and gear to get you started as a Creator.

Gear for Filming + Recording:

The Cameras I shoot with:

I primarily shoot and edit video for social channels on my iPhone 15 Pro.

I shoot photos on my Sony Alpha 7iii full frame mirrorless camera with a Zeiss 55 prime f1.8 lens usually.

If you’re looking for a vlogging camera aside from an iPhone, I’d recommend:

Sony ZV-1F vlogging camera

Sony Alpha 6700

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo

Do you need a fancy camera to take great photos or shoot video for social media? No, you can do so much with just an iPhone, so don’t feel like you need to run out and buy an expensive camera when you’re just starting out.

My Software Stack:

  • I use Lightroom to edit all of my Sony RAW images, and also use Photoshop and Illustrator when Canva just won’t cut it.

  • My entire life is organized in Airtable, and I cannot recommend it enough. I use it to create launch plans, content schedules, keep track of expenses for taxes, organize my books, track royalties for officially licensed merch, and so much more.

  • As an early adopter of Canva, I’ve loved seeing them constantly expand their feature offerings. It’s the perfect tool for quickly creating social content or resizing content for various platforms. While it can’t do everything Adobe CC does, it gets the job done. And it super user friendly for beginners to design.

  • If you’re currently a Slack user, I’m am begging you to get on the Discord train. It’s so much better! And it doesn’t delete your history after 90 days either if you have a free account.

It’s a super amazing platform for hosting your community whether you want to host buddy reads, chitchats, organize Street Teams, and more.

  • My favorite ESP (Email Service Provider) for Creators, Solopreneurs, and Authors. The best thing is they don’t charge for larger lists, so you’re not penalized for growing your community. It’s a flat yearly rate.

Plus, they have amazing integrations, are women-owned, and they’re constantly adding new features and improvements.

  • Audible (Free 30 Day trial of Premium Plus)

    Libby (Free library app)

    Hoopla (Free library app)

Libro.fm (audiobook app, get two free audiobooks with code SWITCH)

  • I use this software to record my interviews with authors, and it really is fantastic. Super easy to edit and brand your content afterwards, and I love that they create short vertical clips for you to share on social.

It’d be great for anyone starting a podcast or youtube.

  • A free place to get high res photos to use as backgrounds for blog and social posts, or anything else you might want to create.
