Do you ever scroll social media searching for interior inspo for your home library? The perfect dark academia vibes? Maybe a brightly lit room with a gorgeous view and comfy reading chair? Well I decided to do some daydreaming of the perfect reading spot via all of you.

A couple weeks ago, I asked readers to submit a photograph, or if they were feeling fancy, a TikTok/Reel of their coolest, unique reading spaces. And y’all did not disappoint. Below are the submissions, and I’m sure you’ll feel inspired to create your own.

After my teenage son switched to online gaming, we converted the former “kid cave” into a Library/Movie room for me since he no longer needed the space. My husband is a University of Tennessee fan so we decorated the room with that theme. I have three cats and they each join me in the library in the evenings when I read.”

“My husband and I just bought our first house and we made it our mission to turn the smallest room into a library. We started out by building three floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. You can see the start of one of them on the right of the picture; we are still working on filling them all up! The other parts of the library that were important to us were: a calming wall color (we chose blue), a fuzzy rug (the one we have is from my husband’s grandmother), comfy places to sit and read (we already had a large beanbag chair but we also got a large, fuzzy papasan chair with some pillows), and light to read (we use both the natural light from the window and the light from the multidirectional lamp in between the chairs). It is such a comfy and relaxing room to sit and read in and I find myself using it more and more!”

After having my books in boxes for six years it has been so nice to have all of my books out in one space where I can sit in my giant cozy chair and escape into a book.”

I began building and re-designing my garden after leaving a negative work environment. Over the last two weeks, the project has given me a release, it's been therapy to build a place for me to go to escape and read or even let friends come sit after a long day. Now that I'm done, I feel like the project has given me a renewed sense of self and confidence in my abilities. It's so much more than just a reading spot. It's healing. In the morning, you get to watch the sun rise over the trees, listen to song birds, and see the resident hens begin their day.”

I totally turned this spare “junk” room into a library/reading room as a project over winter break.”
