Cute Bookstagram Trend to Try Posting This Week: Your Big Three, but Make it Bookish Recs for Your Sun, Moon, and Rising

Technically this cute bookish trend started on Threads with Penguin Random House’s post asking people earlier this year to share their Big Three: Sun, Moon, Rising, but it’s your favorite book, a book that made you cry, and a book you always recommend. So of course, by the time it made its way over to Bookstagram, the aesthetic book girls took it a step further and made it even more cute with carousel posts and more book recs. Everyone’s been so creative with their posts, and my friend Kate (@foliage_and_fiction), encouraged me to make one too. I had so much fun, but it’s always so hard to narrow down your favorite reads! The easiest way to get started with your Bookstagram post is to use Canva (don’t forget the new grid posts for 2026 are 3:4). You can truly make it your own and use a photo of your bookshelf as the background or grab a cute bookish photo from Unsplash. Then use the Photo Frame tool to create frames where you can drop your book covers in. Pro Tip: I usually grab my book covers from Amazon or Goodreads screenshots. Don’t forget to add your own celestial flair and choose fonts that fit your Bookstagram vibe. And that’s it! It’s a super easy carousel post idea to try out, and it lets people know if they’re going to vibe with your page and the book recs you give.

Below you’ll find my posts, or check out Kate’s for inspo!

The Carousel Cover (include the Penguin post to give your audience context!)

The Sun, Moon, and Rising Rec Pages:

My Sun Recs (aka some of my favorite books)

My Moon Recs (aka books that made me cry)

My Rising Recs (aka books I ALWAYS recommend)

So let me know, are you going to try it?! Tag me if you do (@booksaremythirdplace), I wanna see! As always, happy reading!
